400 Beto Supporters Show Up In Rockdale; GOP Lies About Running Him Out Of Town

Famous right-wing troll and habitual liar Jack Posobiec took to Twitter this weekend to spread lies about Beto’s visit to Rockdale.

You may or may not have noticed the right-wing trolls giddy about Beto supposedly being run out of a small, rural Texas town a few days ago. They also may or may not have mentioned Rockdale. But, it’s funny because the Rockdale town hall was posted online and painted an entirely different story. So, let’s talk about it.

Rockdale is in Milam County in central Texas. The population of Rockdale is 5,300, and there are 24,000 people total in Milam County.

Beto held his town hall at Kay Theater, it was standing room only, and people were crammed in there like a bunch of sardines. Beto’s town hall lasted over an hour. Then he took pictures with everyone there. Presumably, that took another hour.

Beto in Rockdale on August 5, 2022.

After the town hall, Beto walked to his truck out front to leave and drive to the next town hall.

Outside, waiting for him, was about twenty Greg Abbott supporters. As he was leaving, they surrounded him, hooting and hollering as if they were wild animals.

Beto was in Rockdale for over two hours, held his town hall, took lots of pictures with attendees, and then it was time to go.

It took Beto 15 seconds to walk from the door of Kay Theater to his truck. Then he got in his vehicle and left.

Beto was scheduled to be at Madisonville in the morning, so he had no intentions of staying in Rockdale. Nevertheless, he showed up, did what he intended, and left.

The notion that he was “run out of town” because a small amount of angry white people were shouting at him “fuck you” as he left is just absurd.

More supporters showed up for Beto than the tiny group of people flexing their small penis energy.

One of the trolls peddling this lie online said that Beto’s supporters were bussed in because no one in Milam County supports him.

However, the election results from 2020 and 2018 tell an entirely different story.

In 2018, 1,997 people in Milam County voted for Beto, and over 8,000 people in Milam County didn’t vote at all.

In 2020, 2,496 people in Milam County voted for Joe Biden, and over 5,000 people in Milam County didn’t vote at all.

All 400 people who showed up to support Beto in Rockdale on August 5 were from Milam County, and only a small portion of Milam County’s Democratic voters.

But, Beto had police with him during the 15-second walk from the theater door to his truck.

Another troll peddling the lie about Rockdale was using this to “prove” Beto got ran out of town.

Check out the video posted by Jack Posobiec. The people there were unhinged. They were jumping up and down, running in circles, and shouting profanities. They were acting like wild animals. Would you stick your hand in a cage with a bunch of angry hyenas? Or would you pet a hungry bear? No.

The police were a barrier between a civilized person and his staff and a bunch of wild animals.

Beto went to Rockdale, did exactly what he intended to do, and then left Rockdale when he intended as a bunch of people embarrassed themselves and their town as he drove away.

And if any of them had a lick of common sense, they would have gone inside and spoken with Beto. As our next Governor has continuously expressed openness and willingness to talk to people across the aisle, listen to their concerns, and try to find common ground.

Beto is going to win in November, and he’s going to save Texas.

Republicans want you to believe that Texas is a Conservative state. So even if Beto doesn’t win Milam County, what happened in Rockdale is a perfect analogy for what’s happening in Texas.

A lot of good, honest Texans believe in Beto O’Rourke. They are showing up for him and supporting him. But there’s a much smaller group outside, making noise and being as ugly and hateful as possible because they want to set the narrative.

In November, the world will see how small that loud group truly is.

The last day to register to vote is October 11, 64 days from now.

The first day of early voting is October 24, 77 days from now.

And in 92 days, on November 8, Beto gets voted in as our next Governor.
