Which Country Best Shares The Ideology Of The Texas Republican Party?

Let’s compare, and by process of elimination, find out which country the Texas GOP is aspiring to be like.

If you haven’t read the Texas Republican’s platform yet, I strongly suggest you check it out. It’s psychotic and reads like Fascism 101. In modern-day America, it’s hard to comprehend the level of depravity that the GOP’s social policies represent. It’s time for us to look at other countries that share the Texas GOP’s policies and what life is like in those countries to better understand who the Texas GOP is aspiring to be.

First, let’s take a look at women’s rights. In Texas, abortions are now banned, even in cases of rape and incest. A total of 51 countries in the world ban abortion, even in cases of rape and incest. However, some countries, like Vatican City, are impossible to compare to Texas. Then there were others, like Abkhazia, which has less than 250,000 people. Or Palau, with less than 20,000 people. So, I cut the countries with a population of less than 1 million.

The countries and populations that have total abortion ban, even in cases of rape and incest:

  • Afghanistan – 40 million
  • Bahrain – 2 million
  • Burundi – 12 million
  • Congo – 90 million
  • Dominican Republic – 11 million
  • El Salvador – 7 million
  • Guatemala – 17 million
  • Guinea-Bissau – 2 million
  • Haiti – 12 million
  • Iraq – 41 million
  • Lebanon – 7 million
  • Libya – 7 million
  • Madagascar – 28 million
  • Malawi – 20 million
  • Mauritania – 5 million
  • Myanmar – 55 million
  • Nicaragua – 7 million
  • Nigeria – 206 million
  • Palestine – 5 million
  • Papua New Guinea – 9 million
  • Paraguay – 7 million
  • Philippines – 110 million
  • Senegal – 17 million
  • Somalia – 16 million
  • South Sudan – 11 million
  • Sri Lanka – 22 million
  • Syria – 18 million
  • Venezuela – 29 million
  • Yemen – 30 million

Still, most of these countries are smaller than Texas (population of 30 million). And if Republicans take control in 2022, Mitch McConnell has already promised a federal ban on abortions. If that happens, America (population of 330 million) will become the largest country in the world to deny women their rights to bodily autonomy.

The next cornerstone of the Texas GOP’s platform was reducing access to the ballot box.

While America supposedly has free elections, the GOP has climbed mountains to deny as many people as possible access to the ballot. And it’s clear, not only by their repeated actions but also in their platform where they call for the repeal of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the abolition of one person, one vote, that the Republicans do not want free and fair elections.

Using the countries above, here are the countries that ban abortions and do not have free and fair elections:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bahrain
  • Congo
  • Haiti
  • Iraq
  • Libya
  • Myanmar
  • Nicaragua
  • Somalia
  • South Sudan
  • Syria
  • Venezuela
  • Yemen

(I took off Palestine because they are under military occupation and vote in Israel’s election process. They wouldn’t be good for comparison to GOP ideals.)

What about LGBTQ rights?

The traitor, Clarence Thomas, put out a concurrent opinion after Roe V Wade was overturned, indicating the Supreme Court would be looking at gay marriage and sodomy laws next.

Here are the countries where gay marriage isn’t legal and homosexual activity is outlawed (sodomy laws):

  • Afghanistan
  • Iraq
  • Libya
  • Myanmar
  • Somalia
  • South Sudan
  • Yemen

While gay marriage and activity are illegal in Syria, I took them off the list because transgender people can legally change their gender in Syria.

America has a mixed economy. So, on our path to finding who the Texas GOP most aspires to be, I took out all of the countries that did not have similar economic systems.

  • Iraq
  • Libya
  • Myanmar
  • Yemen

What next?

To find other points for comparison, I tried looking at healthcare. All four countries have healthcare systems that are in crisis, and citizens don’t have ready access to healthcare. Texas healthcare is also in crisis, and over 6 million Texans don’t have access to healthcare.

All four of the above countries have a cannabis prohibition. So does Texas.

Then, I looked at environmental protections. The Texas Republican platform opposes all carbon taxes, encourages drilling for more fossil fuels, and the abolition of the EPA and the Endangered Species Act.

Libya, Myanmar, and Yemen each have responsible environmental policies and government agencies. For that reason, it’s determined that the country which best shares the Texas GOP’s ideology is: IRAQ.

What’s life like in Iraq?

It’s time to start researching it and learning about it because if Democrats don’t show out to the polls in November 2022, Texas will look a lot like Iraq.

If you think this is hyperbole, then reading the Texas GOP platform is a must.

Vote like your life depends on it. Likely, it will.
