Kat Sanders, a grassroots organizer for Progressive Democrats of America, will be the featured speaker at the general membership meeting for the Burnet County Democratic Club on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 11:30 am via Zoom.
She will address how to amplify the voice of rural Texans.
BCDCTX President BJ Henry credits Sanders with singlehandedly blanketing Central Texas with Democratic yard and ranch signs during the 2020 election cycle.
“Kat bought and distributed yard sings from Lampasas County to the Texas Coast and from far West Texas to Burnet County and all parts in between,” Henry said.
Sanders, a Cleburne, Texas, resident, has a long history of grassroots organizing. She brings progressive passion, a practical skill set and realistic strategies to building the Democratic Party. Sanders has served as the acting president of Progressive Democrats of America in North Central Texas, a regional meeting organizer for the Democratic Party, a Women’s March organizer and a contract negotiator for the United Steel Workers Exxon National Bargaining Unit.
“Sanders is an exciting speaker. She will talk about how grassroots organizing can increase voter turnout for rural Democrats while building coalitions and working together to achieve our goals,” said Mary Thompson, BCDCTX vice president.
