Flower Mound Area Dems to Host Candidate Spotlights

Make sure you tune in.

FLOWER MOUND, TEXAS — The Flower Mound Area Democrats (FMAD) are excited to host the first in a series of candidate spotlights. Shadi Zitoon, candidate for Texas State Senate, District 12, will be the first guest on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. on Facebook Live.

Mr. Zitoon will introduce himself, discuss the issues of education, healthcare, criminal justice and the environment and answer questions attendees pose.

A native of Fort Worth, Mr. Zitoon is an IT professional who graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2005 and was endorsed by the Dallas Morning News.

The second spotlight will be on Greg Alvord, candidate for the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE), District 14. It will be held August 20, 2020,  from 7-8 p.m., also on Facebook Live. Greg will also introduce himself, explain what policies and standards he would like for the SBOE to have, and answer questions from attendees.

Mr. Alvord — who has a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics and a master’s in computer science — believes that public education is the key for improving students’ lives. He has taught high school math classes, served as a school board member for 12 years, and worked for NASA, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Energy.
