Some residents’ signs have met a criminal demise.
The Burnet County Democratic Club of Texas announces that yard signs encouraging people to vote have been restocked and are available in the Marble Falls Office – and now that presumptive nominee Joe Biden has selected Kamala Harris as his running mate, signs promoting the ticket are on their way.
Yard signs have been popular, especially on Saturdays during voter registration drives at the Main Street office. They’ve also been popular with thieves, said BJ Henry, president of BCDCTX.
“We have ordered more yard signs because we keep selling out. Demand is high, especially when signs are taken right out of people’s yards,” Henry said. “Whatever the reason, we are pleased to fill the need.”
Recently, Meadowlakes resident Kishia Turland reported a case of political sign theft to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office when she discovered many missing signs in a nearby dumpster.
“Perhaps people don’t realize it’s not just a prank, it’s a crime,” Turland said. “So far, all’s well that ends well. I was able to return all the signs to their owners. The silver lining was meeting likeminded neighbors and having some great conversations with them!”
New signs are available at the Burnet County Democratic Club Office, above the Uptown Theater, 218 Main Street, Marble Falls, from 11 am to 2 pm Tuesday through Friday, during the voter registration drive 11 am to 2 pm on Saturdays in September, or via bcdctx.org/shop.
“BCDCTX will deliver signs if you call 830-220-5228 and leave a message,” Turland said.
Follow BCDCTX on Twitter and Instagram and visit bcdctx.org for voter information. BCDCTX meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month via Zoom until it is safe to be physically together again. The meetings are open to anyone who supports Democratic ideals.
