Delia Parker-Mims is proud to announce that former Congressman Robert “Beto” O’Rourke (D) has endorsed her in her bid for Denton County Commissioner Precinct 3.
O’Rourke served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013-2019, ran for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and was a 2020 presidential candidate. Senator Ted Cruz defeated O’Rourke by a mere 3 percentage points in the senatorial race.
O’Rourke stated, “I’m so happy to be endorsing Delia Parker-Mims for County Commissioner Precinct 3 in Denton County in this November’s election. I’ll tell you why. I’ve had the chance to get to know Delia and beyond the fact that she’s originally from El Paso, Texas, I’ve seen her go on to do great things in North Texas and in Denton County.
She’s going to bring the kind of responsibility and responsiveness and accountability to county government the people of Denton County deserve.
She’s going to make sure that we meet the crisis of Covid-19 and reduce its transmission with the urgency that it deserves, making sure that we save lives, reduce suffering and make North Texas a leader in public health. She is also going to make sure that she runs the most transparent and responsive county commissioner’s court office in the community. She wants to hear from everyone, and she could less whether you’re Republican, Independent or Democrat — she just wants to make sure that county government is working for you. So, please, support and vote for Delia Parker-Mims during Early Voting in October and Election Day on Nov. 3 for County Commissioner Precinct 3 in Denton County.”
Parker-Mims responded, “I was so proud of Beto when he returned to Texas and immediately began working to flip this state.
That shows true leadership. He understands that the county commissioner race may not seem exciting, but it has a meaningful role. Access to voting and public health care are two of those main areas. I’m very proud to receive his endorsement. He’s a man of integrity and I know he doesn’t make endorsements lightly.”
Parker-Mims stated that as Denton County Commissioner 3 she would serve the community by championing better access to health care, affordable housing for seniors, easier voting through the establishment of voting centers, improvement and protection of the environment, providing children with a BEE S.A.F.F.E. (Safety Against Attacks for Everyone) program that gives children the tools they need to keep them safe and a Safe Surrender program to reduce gun violence.
An SMU graduate, family lawyer and community volunteer, Delia Parker-Mims is a Democratic candidate for Denton County Commissioner 3 who wants to make Denton County healthier and safer for its citizens.
