Which is why Living Blue in Texas is endorsing her for Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court.
Judge Amy Clark Meachum is no stranger to the law as the presiding civil district judge of the 201st District Court of Travis County. She’s a born and raised Texan with real Texan values. She is the first woman candidate to ever run for Chief Justice in Texas. When she wins she will be Texas’ first woman Chief Justice in history.
Judge Meachum was named a Rising Star for general civil litigation by Texas Law & Politics Magazine in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She was the recipient of the Austin Young Lawyer of the Year Award for 2010 and the Austin Under 40 Award for the Legal Industry in 2011.
Judge Meachum is on the board of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas. She has a long history of pro-Bono work. In a state like Texas it’s so important that people of little means have fair representation. Her legal career spans over two decades and became a judge when she was only 35 years old.
Lately, she has been a vocal supporter of voting by mail saying, “no one should have to choose between their health and voting.”
Judge Meachum can even the odds.
Texas has only had Republicans on the supreme court for the last 25 years. Because of that, Texas has got into a system where the supreme court only votes in favor of their political donors and their political friends. Judge Meachum will put an end to that cronyism.
Amy Clark Meachum will bring fairness, balance, and common sense back to our highest civil court. And for that reason, Living Blue in Texas is endorsing Judge Amy Clark Meachum for Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court.
